Richard the Bad, Richard the Good

Richard the Bad was a Staffordshire bull terrier
with eyes like wildfire. Richard was a warrio.

If he spotted a poodle or dachshund or tyke
he was after it before you could say knife.

He ought to be kept locked up, muzzled and chained.
If you let him free he'd only do it again.

Richard the Good was a Staffordshire bull terrier:
my mother's dog, a bit of a worrier

after dark if she was late home.
He never liked her going out alone

but with him at her side my mother had the freedom of Manchester,
no park was too dark for her and her Staffordshire bull terrier.
